The Mirror Mosaic

1986

A unit of the mosaic is a triangle with angles 30°, 60°, and 90°, divided into four segments, each marked with one of four colors.

The mosaic consists of two sets of 256 units each that mirror each other. When assembled the two sets correspond to the shape of two mirror units juxtaposed to each other.

The design of the Mirror Mosaic is based on the fractal principle and the Golden Ratio, which also underlies the structure of images of the Astronavigation book for coloring.
