Formation and Types of Mosaic Matrices
Mosaics are one of the visual manifestations of the Atrium Alphabet. They translate the graphic signs of the Atrium Alphabet into geometric and ornamental shapes. Each grapheme of the Alphabet can be expressed by a geometric or ornamental unit, which varies cross different types of mosaics.
The Atrium Alphabet and all its manifestations are based on a four-element, four-position matrix consisting of 256 unique units. In the mosaic representation of a unit, the position corresponds to a segment of geometirc figure expressing the unit, and the element is indicated by a color of the segment.
Mosaics constructed in accordance with this principle can have endless number of shapes and colors, and ways to assemple them into larger wholes.
